Container door hinge The M Type door hinge blade is a steel part welded to the edge of the door leaf. It fits over the hinge pin (Hinge Pin) on the rear corner post of the container, carries the full weight of the door and lets it open and close smoothly.

The hinge takes more load than any other point on the container door, especially when the door is left open in strong wind or a forklift hits it. Over time the pin hole wears, the door drops and no longer closes fully, which affects the door gasket and the watertightness of the container.

• Measure the width of the old hinge blade in millimetres.
• Measure the pin hole size and the length of the old hinge pin.
• Send a photo of the old hinge to our sales team and we can help match the model.

• Align all hinge blades on the same door to one axis before welding, otherwise the door will bind.
• Replace the hinge pin and hinge bush at the same time if they are also worn.
• Paint anti rust coating over the welds after fitting.

Does the M Type hinge fit both 20 ft and 40 ft containers?

Hinge blades are not grouped by container length but by the width and shape of the blade. Measure the old blade before ordering.
