PEROLO Stainless Steel Swingbolt Assembly, 58 mm, for Manlids

Swingbolts are the clamping points around the Manlid. The bolt swings up on a Pivot Pin into the lid's locking slot, then the Wing Nut is tightened to clamp the lid down. When every point is tightened in the right sequence, the clamping force spreads around the lid and presses the gasket evenly into the seal groove. PEROLO Manlid systems use Swingbolts with Captive Wing Nuts as standard, with the clamp material chosen to suit the Manlid model.

Note: 58 mm refers to the Eye Bolt size in the assembly code, not the overall size of the part. Do not use it as the only value for matching parts.

PEROLO makes several swing bolt sets by size and material. The wrong model gives uneven lid clamping or will not fit.

Checks before ordering

• Eye Bolt length: 58 or 83 mm. Generally, Low Profile Manlids (Neckring no higher than 40 mm) use 58 mm, many Standard Profile models use 83 mm, and some models such as the ND500 Hydrogen Peroxide Manlid use both sizes on the same lid.
• Pivot Pin size: the usual standard is 16 mm. Measure the original part before ordering.
• Original Wing Nut material: stainless steel or brass, matched to the product carried. For example, Hydrogen Peroxide service requires an all stainless set.
• The original Part Number on the documents or parts box, if available

Suited to ISO Tank Container Manlids, Road Tanker Manlids, PEROLO Multido Manlids, Low Profile Manlids, ND500 Hydrogen Peroxide Manlids and chemical or liquid transport tank lids that use a Swingbolt system, as well as routine Manlid Clamp set replacement.

Closing

1. Check that the gasket is seated correctly in the seal groove.
2. Lower the Coverlid onto the Neckring in the correct position.
3. Swing every Swingbolt up into the lid's locking slot.
4. Turn each Wing Nut by hand until it touches the lid, then tighten a little at a time in a cross pattern until the clamping force is even at every point.
5. Check that no Swingbolt has slipped out of its locking slot.

Opening

1. Make sure there is no residual pressure inside the tank.
2. Loosen every Wing Nut a little at a time in a cross pattern. Do not fully loosen any one before the others.
3. Once you are sure there is no pressure, loosen fully, fold the Swingbolts down and open the lid following the tank's safety procedure.

Before every use, check that the Eye Bolt has no cracks or stretching, the thread is not worn or flattened, the Wing Nut turns along the full thread, the Pivot Pin does not have excessive play, and all screws and washers are in place.

Key prohibitions: do not open the Manlid while the tank is under pressure, do not hammer or use an extension bar to tighten the Wing Nut, do not weld repair a damaged Eye Bolt or Wing Nut, and do not use the 58 mm size in place of 83 mm without checking the design. If a Wing Nut binds, check the thread first and do not force it. After replacing parts, test the Manlid for tightness and leaks before loading product.
