Container Corner Casting

A container corner casting, or Corner Casting, is the cast steel part at each of the 8 corners of a container. It is the lifting, locking and lashing point of the container throughout transport, making it one of the most heavily loaded parts of the container structure.

The 8 corner castings of a container have different jobs depending on position:

• Top corner castings (Top Corner Castings): Used to lift the container with a crane or Reach Stacker Spreader, and to lock to the container above with Twistlocks
• Bottom corner castings (Bottom Corner Castings): Used to lock the container to a truck Chassis or ship's hold with a Twistlock system

Under ISO 1161, top and bottom corner castings have different aperture designs, and left and right sides are mirror images. When ordering, please tell us the position you need (top left, top right, bottom left or bottom right) so you get the part that matches the repair point.
