Description
Description
Container door handle Code LG87034 is a Forged seal hole handle, made in one piece from forged steel. It turns the locking bar (Locking Bar) so the locking cams at the ends of the bar engage the cam keepers, closing the door tightly and locking it firmly. The hole in the handle is used to fit the seal together with the seal catch of the seal hole handle set.
How is a Forged door handle different from a pressed one?
There are 2 main handle types found in container repairs: the Forged seal hole handle (LG87034), forged from a single piece of steel with thick sections and good torsional strength, and the pressed flat handle (Pressed Handle, code LG87044), formed from steel plate. The two types use different seal catch sets, so check the existing model on the container before ordering.
Which set does this container door handle fit?
It fits the seal hole handle door lock set on ISO standard Dry containers, both 20 ft and 40 ft, and works with
- Handle hub (Handle Hub) code LG87030/1 which is welded onto the locking bar
- Door handle rivet code LG87011 which fixes the handle to the hub
- Forged lower retainer plate code LG87033 and the customs catch (Customs Catch) code LG87032

Key points for M&R work
- Make sure the existing set is a seal hole handle, not a flat handle.
- Use a new rivet every time the handle is removed.
- Check that the hub hole on the locking bar is not worn or enlarged before fitting.
- After fitting, close the handle into the seal catch and make sure a seal can actually be fitted.
When should you replace the door handle?
- The handle is bent or twisted from impact while lifting or moving the container
- There are cracks around the mounting hole or seal hole
- The handle is loose, wobbles or does not fully turn the locking bar
- The handle will not close into the seal catch or a seal cannot be fitted
