Description
The MEGA SUPERVENTIX MH65F high pressure safety relief valve is a Safety Relief Valve (Without Flame Proof Gauze) made by PEROLO to protect pressure tanks from accidental overpressure, especially rapid pressure surges such as in a fire, where a high relief rate is needed in a short time.
The valve has a DN65 (2.5 inch) bore with a 2.5″ BSP threaded connection and a relief setting of 1,100 kPa or 11 Bar. It is Single Acting, relieving overpressure only, with no Vacuum Relief, and this model has no Flame Proof Gauze. The body is Stainless Steel 316L, and it suits both static pressure tanks and transport tanks specified for Set Pressures of 8 to 14 Bar.
How the Spring Loaded high pressure safety relief valve works
Inside the valve, a high pressure spring set holds the Pressure Plate closed. When tank pressure reaches the 11 Bar Set Pressure, it overcomes the spring and lifts the Pressure Plate to release gas or vapour. When pressure balances again, the spring pushes the plate closed automatically.
If pressure rises quickly, the Pressure Plate lifts up to about 20 millimetres to open the maximum relief area for high flow. This is why the SUPERVENTIX range is chosen for applications with strict relief requirements.
A limitation to understand: this model has no Vacuum Poppet, so it protects against overpressure only and cannot protect the tank from collapsing under negative pressure. If the system needs both functions, choose a Pressure/Vacuum model instead.
MH65F high pressure safety relief valve flow rates
Flow rates per the manufacturer's documents, measured at 120% of Set Pressure, conditions 101.3 kPa at 15°C
| Set Pressure | Measured flow (without Gauze) | Certified flow, Federal Register Coefficient |
|---|---|---|
| 8 Bar (800 kPa) | 6.76 Sm³/s (14,323 Scfm) | 6.08 Sm³/s (12,892 Scfm) |
| 11 Bar (1,100 kPa) | 9.16 Sm³/s (19,409 Scfm) | 8.24 Sm³/s (17,461 Scfm) |
| 14 Bar (1,400 kPa) | 11.56 Sm³/s (24,494 Scfm) | 10.40 Sm³/s (22,038 Scfm) |
With Flame Proof Gauze fitted, flow drops by less than 12%
How to choose the right Set Pressure
The manufacturer sets a clear rule: the safety relief valve Set Pressure is 1.1 times the tank working pressure (1.1 x MAWP), so the 11 Bar model suits tanks with a working pressure of about 10 Bar.
Do not choose by thread size alone. Before ordering, check the tank MAWP and Design Pressure on the Data Plate and compare them with the valve Set Pressure, and check Chemical Compatibility between the valve body, O-ring, Gasket and the product carried.

Standards and certification
MEGA SUPERVENTIX MH65F is designed to comply with ADR, IMDG, RID and ISO 4126-1 (§7.3), covering safety relief valve requirements for transport pressure tanks.
Key features of the MEGA SUPERVENTIX high pressure safety relief valve
- Designed specifically for the high pressure range of 8 to 14 Bar
- Certified relief flow of 8.24 Sm³/s at 11 Bar Set Pressure
- Pressure Plate lifts 20 mm to open the maximum relief area when pressure surges
- Stainless Steel 316L body with FEP seals
- Single Acting design with few parts, easy to maintain
- Temperature range -40°C to +190°C
- Can be fitted with a Bursting Disc and Pressure Gauge
- Genuine Spring Set and O-ring spare parts sold separately
Suitable applications
Suited to high pressure ISO Tank Containers, Road Tankers, pressure IBCs, Static Pressure Tanks, tanks carrying gas or liquid under pressure and high pressure chemical tanks specified for a Safety Relief Pressure of 11 Bar, where the system does not need Vacuum Relief and the spec calls for no Flame Proof Gauze.
Basic installation steps
Manufacturer safety requirement: install the valve where released gas or liquid will not spray towards operators.
- Check the valve Nameplate, Set Pressure and Serial Number.
- Check that the 11 Bar Set Pressure matches the tank MAWP (1.1 x MAWP rule).
- Remove the Protective Cap from the 2.5″ BSP thread.
- Clean the thread, flange and gasket so they are free of dust and metal debris.
- Screw the valve in by hand with the Setting Gasket, then tighten with a C-Spanner to 20 daN·m ±5.
- Check the tightness at the Gasket or Bursting Disc Interface.
- Test for leaks before putting the system back into service.
Important warning: do not remove the Wire Weld Seal between the Body and Cover before the scheduled inspection. Removing the seal early ends the warranty immediately.
Note for this model: it has no Flame Proof Gauze. The Gauze removal and fitting steps in the Installation Sheet apply only to models with that option.

Note: a 0 to 10 Bar Pressure Gauge cannot display above the 11 Bar Set Pressure. Check that the Gauge Range suits the actual system before fitting.
Spring Set and seal spare parts
The Spring Set determines the valve Set Pressure. Change the spring set to adjust the value within the model range.
| Item | Part Number |
|---|---|
| Spring Set 9 Bar | 11 10 49 00 02 |
| Spring Set 11 Bar | 11 10 49 00 03 |
| Spring Set 14 Bar | 11 10 49 00 08 |
| Pressure O-ring (FEP/Silicone) | 11 10 01 99 05 |
Spring Set changes must be done in a Workshop with a Test Rig to test the new Set Pressure every time. Never adjust on site.
Maintenance and safety warnings
The manufacturer recommends removing the valve for inspection in a Workshop about every 2 years, by technicians with the knowledge and tools for Safety Relief Valves only.
Danger: the internal Spring Load is between 100 and 700 daN. When the Cap is removed, the spring set can fly out violently. Never disassemble in a general work area.
Summary of steps: confirm the tank is not under pressure, remove the valve from the Tank Pad, cover the flange opening with a Blind Cap, remove the Cap carefully and release the spring tension slowly, inspect the Pressure Plate and Pressure Seal, replace O-rings that are hardened, cracked or deformed, then reassemble, test the Set Pressure on a Test Rig and leak test before refitting.
Key prohibitions: do not use on tanks with an MAWP lower than the Set Pressure, do not use the 11 Bar model in place of a lower pressure model, do not add Flame Proof Gauze yourself without checking flow performance, and do not block the outlet. Use only PEROLO OEM parts. The warranty ends immediately if non OEM parts are used.
